VERNON, BC— The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre Society presents the 2024-25 SPOTLIGHT Season’s Kids Series, showcasing top-notch theatre for young audiences worldwide at your friendly neighbourhood theatre!

Discover The Alphabet of Awesome Science's A to Z adventure; come see the wildly popular Alex Zerbe, who “moves like a rubber band”, in his Zaniac Comedy Show; and be thoroughly entertained by the Kif-Kif Sisters' physical theater. Plus, experience D’Artagnan's Musketeer dream in The Three Musketeers! Exclusive Subscription pre-sales are available now.

"As we unveil the 2024-25 SPOTLIGHT Kids Series, we invite families to share in the magic of theatre, creating lasting memories together," said Erin Kennedy, VDPAC’s artistic director.

The 2024-25 SPOTLIGHT Kids Series opens September 29 with The Kif-Kif Sisters welcoming you to The Returns Department - a hilarious combination of physical theatre, circus and puppetry. Inspecting returned merchandise passing on a conveyor belt, the twins give in to the temptation to play with the faulty items – as the objects themselves play some tricks of their own. Get ready for humour and surprises!

Alex Zerbe’s Zaniac Comedy Show returns October 19. Jaws will drop and eyes will pop as Alex juggles bowling balls, giant knives, and slices vegetables in half with a flying playing card. Beatboxing, juggling, dancing, singing, music and magic are just a few of the things that led Piers Morgan of America’s Got Talent to call Alex, ‘The total package’. Alex Zerbe is an audience favourite at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre, last appearing in 2019.

The ever-popular Dufflebag Theatre, where the narrator makes the audience part of the story and the stars of the show, returns March 1 with The Three Musketeers. Join D’Artagnan, a spirited youth from the French countryside, as he pursues his dream of becoming a Musketeer. In this lively, interactive adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale, his journey is fraught with challenges. The performance is always a hit and praised by teachers and students alike, combining high energy with audience engagement.

The Kid Series finale comes all the way from Australia, The Alphabet of Awesome Science on April 16. Professors Lexi Con, The Word Nerd and Noel Edge, The Science Freak bring a thrilling voyage through the alphabet — where sesquipedalian words inspire mind-blowing scientific surprises! It’s a tongue-twisting race from A to Z that’s equal parts explosive, messy, hilarious, fascinating and gross! Brace yourself for an hour of carefully crafted alphabetical, “scientifical” (And award-winning!) chaos — that floats, flies, squirts, sprays, ignites and erupts!
