Canada Summer Jobs 2024: Job Postings

(Available to Youth between the ages 15-30, Canadian citizens, permanent residents or granted refugee status, with a valid SIN).

Tasks and Responsibilities: The two Production Assistants (PAs) will train & assist with all backstage preparations in all phases & types of live &/or recorded technical production for live performances. The PAs will be directly involved in the operation of Lighting & Audio consoles, and any HD video & digital audio recordings of closed recording sessions. Placement tasks will include assisting with the final conversion tasks and activation of VDPAC's onsite Marie Fleming Studio (MFStudio) as a platform for engaging youth performers and participants. The PAs will also job-shadow & work directly with VDPAC's resident Technical Director (TD) & Assistant TD (ATD) to receive comprehensive hands-on training on the operation of our computerized lighting & audio console systems in support of VDPAC's remaining live performance schedule through July 2024, and in preparation for VDPAC's annual maintenance shutdown in August.

VDPAC's proven goal for these placements is to prepare youth candidates for post-secondary, accredited training & certification as qualified theatre technicians; and/or as future paid PT, Casual or "gig" contract work as theatre technicians/operators for VDPAC, or at other venues in the live or recorded performance industry.
