VERNON, BC – Acclaimed Quebec-based circus company FLIP Fabrique is coming to Vernon to take everyone on a delightful winter journey with Blizzard. This circus presentation promises to take you on a crazy and poetic, wintery journey that invites you to lose yourself in a wondrous evening on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre, as a part of its SPOTLIGHT 2023-24 Special Presentation Series.

Blizzard pays homage to Québec winters in an acrobatic, poetic and humorous way. Joyous vignettes show the beauty of winter, from snowball fights to snow days. Blizzard was created in Québec City in the middle of winter in 2019 with cold spells of -20°C and snowstorms. Even the heating system broke down during rehearsal! With performers at the peak of their art and outstanding visual poetry, Blizzard promises to blow away everything in its path.

Created under the leadership of Executive & Artistic Director Bruno Gagnon, this circus show makes audiences confront the impact of winter, not just in the outside world but in our homes and hearts. As the north wind freezes time, it explores challenging winter as an opportunity for a fresh start—a new blank page shaped like a blizzard.

The show resembles an animated film, delving into the many aspects of winter, from snowball fights to introspective calmness, to children’s unbound joy when schools close. Crafted for all ages, it seamlessly mixes astonishing acrobatics, laugh-out-loud comedy, and live music.

Gagnon emphasizes the importance of maintaining a playful spirit in life, urging adults not to forget the inner child that brings them joy and vitality. “FLIP Fabrique is a company that was founded because of the friendship between circus artists. The heart and soul of FLIP is to make every show evoke a lighthearted camaraderie,” he shares.

Audiences can expect a captivating series of acrobatic disciplines, from Aerial Hoops to Chinese Pole and German Wheel. With performers at the peak of their art Blizzard promises to “blow away” everything in its path.

Known worldwide for its contemporary circus, FLIP Fabrique has toured their large -scale performances across the globe. Including shows in France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, the US, and cities across Canada, will be in Vernon as part of the VDPAC's SPOTLIGHT 2023-24 season.

The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre presents Blizzard on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $50 for Adults, $47 for Seniors, $45 for Students and $30 for first two rows (all ages). The performance is one hour 15 minutes with no intermission.
